The US Geography Olympiad and International Geography Bee are pleased to announce the official National Middle School and Elementary Median Scores for the 2016-2017 competition season:
D set – Middle School: 33, Elementary: 19.5
E set – Middle School: 27, Elementary: 34
All students who score at or above these scores qualify for the 2017 US Geography Olympiad and International Geography Bee Middle School and Elementary US National Championships even if they were not in the top half of students in their age division at a site where they took the exam. Students taking the Exams independently (i.e. not at a site) can only qualify off the Middle School and Elementary exams by finishing at or above these scores. All students, however, can also qualify for either Middle School or Elementary National Championships if they finish above the JV Median Scores on any of the A, B, or C Set exams, or if they finished in the top 50% of students in the JV Division at any official A, B, or C Set Exam site.
Students who took an Exam at a site who did not qualify automatically but who now do will be contacted to let them know they have qualified. We hope that all qualified students can join us for our 2017 Middle School and Elementary National Championships on May 28-29 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, IL!
